Meet Harmonie North

We are thrilled to introduce you to Harmonie North, an ensemble of wind musicians who have a passion for chamber music.

The inspiration to establish a Harmonie ensemble originated from the members of our wind quintet, CinqueVenti. After performing together for more than 15 years, CinqueVenti began exploring repertoire scored for larger chamber ensembles, and in 2023, invited equally enthusiastic players to join us to create Harmonie North. Harmoniemusik is a delightful musical genre dating back to the 18th century, originally scored for six to eight wind instruments (typically oboes [or clarinets], bassoons, and horns) and then expanding to larger and more diverse instrumentation. Harmonie North celebrates this classic literature and embraces more contemporary music scored for chamber winds. Our core ensemble is a double wind quintet.

Harmonie North refers to the northern suburbs of Chicago, where our members reside and perform. We are a unique addition to the musical smorgasboard in Lake County and it is truly a pleasure for us to perform locally for friends, family, and neighbors. There is no substitute for the thrill of playing in a chamber wind group where every part has an important voice and the musical harmony between instruments is exquisitely apparent.

We look forward to meeting you at our next performance.
